The 26th China Hi-Tech Fair was held at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center from November 14th to 16th, 2024. This exhibition attracted nearly 5,000 well-known enterprises and international organizations from more than 100 countries and regions around the world to participate in the exhibition and the conference. Among them, there were over 180 Fortune Global 500 companies and central enterprises, more than 1,000 listed companies, and over 2,000 gazelle and unicorn enterprises. The number of professional visitors reached 400,000. The Shenzhen Bay Laboratory(SZBL) made an appearance with numerous innovative achievements.
Since its establishment, the Shenzhen Bay Laboratory participated in the Hi-Tech Fair in the form of a special exhibition for the first time. Its exhibition hall was located in Hall 13. During this participation, it showcased a number of representative scientific research achievements and technological breakthroughs of the laboratory, including computing software, biomarker research, innovative drug pipelines and their platforms, high-end medical devices and scientific research equipment, etc. This is also an outstanding report card presented by the Shenzhen Bay Laboratory to the society in the five years since its establishment.
As an important part of the Guangdong Province's scientific and technological innovation system, after five years of development and accumulation, the Shenzhen Bay Laboratory has initially connected the chain of scientific research innovation and transformation. Up to now, the Shenzhen Bay Laboratory has built 17 new drug research and development platforms; the AI + BT companies incubated by it have completed two rounds of financing of nearly 100 million yuan; it owns the only ultra-high-throughput drug screening system in South China, with a daily screening capacity of up to 150,000; it has developed the first domestic new-generation immunoblot imaging system in China; two wearable PET-CT teams have been incubated into companies.

The Transformation and Innovation Center, which was established by merging the former BayRay Innovation Center and the former Center of Translational Research, made an appearance at the Hi-Tech Fair together with its achievements. The two companies intended to be incubated by the Transformation and Innovation Center simultaneously conducted roadshows at multiple forums such as the Guangdong Science and Technology Finance Center Forum and the New Product Premiere Ceremony.
The Transformation and Innovation Center is one of the pioneers in transformation of the Shenzhen Bay Laboratory. In the field of new drug research and development, on the one hand, it is positioned to solve the problem of high-value new drug transformation that universities are unable to handle while enterprises want to do but dare not. On the other hand, it actively builds bridges for cooperation with enterprises and investors and connects basic research with clinical applications. Guided by clinical needs, it promotes the rapid and effective transformation of original innovation to clinical practice and the market. The center has built an ultra-high-throughput screening system and a full-featured research and development platform covering the research and development of macromolecular and small-molecular new drugs, supporting the efficient development of preclinical new drug research and development activities and promoting the rapid and effective transformation of original innovation to clinical practice and the market.
This time, the Shenzhen Bay Laboratory(SZBL) jointly participated in the exhibition with the Shenzhen Medical Academy of Research and Translation(SMART). The platform facilities of SZBL and SMART follow the principles of integrated construction, functional sharing, characteristic development, and market-oriented operation. They are open for reservation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to both internal and external users, providing full-process services from sample preparation to data analysis.
The market is the touchstone for testing the transformation of scientific research achievements. The Shenzhen Bay Laboratory actively embraces the market. During the exhibition period, more than a thousand people came to visit and inquire at the booth, and many media reported its scientific research achievements. The exhibitors also established the first contact with dozens of investment institutions, upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial chain, entrepreneurial teams, scientific research institutions and international organizations.
In the future, SZBL will continue to vigorously improve the conversion rate of scientific and technological achievements, enabling scientific and technological achievements to quickly enter the market and achieve industrialized production, and strive to become a demonstration benchmark for the application and transformation of scientific and technological achievements.
